A public apology for anti-Israel tweets is sufficient for an NDP candidate, said New Democrat leader Jagmeet Singh.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh says there are no plans for his party to help Justin Trudeau’s Liberals stay in power, but added there are areas they can work together.

Reports surfaced last week members of the NDP were meeting Liberal MPs in Ottawa to discuss a plan to help Trudeau’s minority government stay in power.

“There is no discussion at all of a coalition, and that is a firm no from me. There is not going to be any coalition at all,” Singh told reporters in Ottawa.

“We are prepared to work together to deliver help for people, but … there is no formal or informal agreement.”

Singh said making life more affordable for Canadians and taking action on climate crisis are his party’s top two priorities in the next sitting of Parliament.

He added there was room for agreement with the Liberals on such things as sick pay.
