Two Calgary police officers found themselves in a situation that could have ended very smelly..A homeowner in the northeast community of Taradale noticed a skunk wandering around with its head trapped inside a jar during the early morning hours Wednesday..The homeowner called around to help and, after failing to find anyone, called in the cops..“Once on scene, Constables Smith and Parkinson could see in black and white that the skunk needed help,” said the Calgary Police Service in a release..“They took a few minutes to come up with a plan to save the skunk without getting sprayed..“Clearly lost and confused, the skunk was trapped on the homeowner’s back deck, unable to get down the steps. Eventually, the skunk was so exhausted, it just stayed in place as the officers approached..“Guided by their in-stinks, Const. Parkinson held up a large blanket as Const. Smith pulled the jar off the skunk’s head. .“Luckily it didn’t spray after the jar came off. Instead, the skunk looked at its rescuers without a whiff of concern and wandered off the deck and back into the alley..“The constables and skunk all certainly earned their stripes that night!”
