Several studies suggest the COVID-19 vaccines are linked to the development of the fatal prion disease known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD)..Researchers believe the prion region from the spike protein of the original Wuhan variant of COVID-19 was incorporated into mRNA vaccines and adenovirus vector vaccines, which can cause a new type of rapidly progressing CJD..CJD is a rare disease caused when a protein in the brain called a prion becomes misfolded or diseased. Once a prion is infected, it will continue spread to other prions..Symptoms of the disease include dementia, involuntary movements, blindness, and weakness, and comas. Around 70% of people die within a year of diagnosis. The disease is currently incurable..According to a French pre-print paper published in May, researchers identified 26 cases of a new form of sporadic CJD that appeared in patients a few days after receiving a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccination..The researchers said they are studying the first cases of Omicron-infected patients with CJD in South Africa, Europe, USA, and Canada..Of the 26 cases, 20 had died by the time the study was published, while six were still alive. All the deaths occurred less than five months after vaccination..“This confirms the radically different nature of this new form of CJD, whereas the classic form requires several decades,” researchers wrote..According to the researchers, the Wuhan variant’s spike protein gene information, which includes its prion region, was integrated into the Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines..“The spikes of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA injections also contain this same prion region.
