The man who triggered an Amber Alert after allegedly kidnapping his two-year-old son in Vancouver, BC has been re-arrested.

Davis Lim, 39, now faces charges of assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

On April 4, the Vancouver Police Department received reports that Lim was "breaching release conditions" that had been imposed on him following his arrest for the alleged kidnapping on March 13. He was barred from visiting any Ministry of Children and Family Development office in the province.

When officers arrived at the West Coast Family Centre around 9 a.m., they discovered Lim taking part in what appeared to be a protest along with three adults and "several" children.

According to the VPD, "as police were taking the suspect into custody, he allegedly resisted and assaulted one officer."

Lim has since been released.

Lim's son, Theodore, has myriad health problems that require constant attention. He and his wife have gone back and forth with the government over how best to treat the tot.

The Lim's saga began in 2023, when the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development limited him to seeing Theodore at BC Children's Hospital two times per week with an appointed supervisor.

The government also removed the parents' custody rights after Lim, a former medic in the Canadian Armed Forces, took a more naturopathic stance on health, and was not happy with the care his son was being given in hospital.

In October 2024, a court reaffirmed the ministry's custody of Theodore, officially removing his parents as his legal guardians.

Hours after the March 13 Amber Alert was issued, Theodore was found safe and sound and his father was arrested.
