The world's oldest baby — an embryo frozen in 1994 — has been born in the US. Born on July 26 to Lindsey and Tim Pierce, Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was originally an embryo frozen by Linda Archerd, now 62.Archberd had used IVF in the 1990s, resulting in the birth of her now 30-year-old daughter, who has a 10-year-old daughter herself — making Thaddeus an uncle and sibling. Reported by Sky News, this is all thanks to a Christian "embryo adoption" agency that connected the adoptive mother with the Pierces..The agency is called Nightlight Christian Adoptions. After Thaddeus was born, Archberd commented on the resemblance to his sister: "The first thing that I noticed when Lindsey sent me his pictures is how much he looks like my daughter when she was a baby."Before Thaddeus' birth, there had been similar cases of 27- and 30-year-old embryos being born — but these are rare cases. The Pierces' IVF doctor John Gordon, set up the Rejoice Fertility Clinic to reduce the number of embryos held in storage — there is an estimated millions of embryos being stored in freezers around the world from IVF procedures.
