Last week, President Donald Trump passed what is known as the "big, beautiful bill." In response, Elon Musk announced on X the launch of his new political party, the America Party.A day earlier, on America's Independence Day, Musk posted a poll he claims would break the country's "uniparty system."He explained how he planned to turn the idea into reality: "...to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts."Musk outlines how his strategy could succeed: "Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people..This comes after Musk and Trump's fallout in early June. Afterward, Musk began repeatedly expressing his grievances over the bill on X, which would add U.S. $3.4 trillion to the U.S. debt. At the beginning of June, Musk wrote that the bill was "a disgusting abomination."Then, just last week, over one million people voted in the X poll where Musk asked if he should move forward with forming the party. A day later, after 65.4% voted in favour, Musk declared it official..He explains why he made it: "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy."Insinuating he believes America's two-party system, regardless of which party is in power, is essentially no different.A day after the announcement on Truth Social, Trump responded claiming Musk has gone "'...off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.".Trump also stated Musk was fine with the termination of the EV mandate, which he believes is why Musk opposed the "big, beautiful bill," following Musk's endorsement of Trump during the campaign. Trump claims, "I asked him [Musk] whether or not he knew that I was going to terminate the EV mandate - It was in every speech I made, and in every conversation I had. He said he had no problems with that - I was very surprised!"
