An 84-year-old woman allegedly had her cane stolen in broad daylight while making her way through downtown Vancouver.The suspects are still at large..According to the Vancouver Police Department, the incident took place shortly before 11:30 a.m. on July 27 near Homer St. and West Pender St. The elderly lady was approached by a man and a woman who accused her of stealing from them.The pair then proceeded to allegedly steal her cane. They tried to grab her purse as well, but were unsuccessful as she managed to hold on until another person stepped in.The female suspect has been described as having long dark hair and wearing a brown t-shirt with a logo on the front, and black pants. She also has multiple tattoos on her arms. The male suspect has long-brown hair, and wore a grey t-shirt with grey pants.They fled the scene, and were last spotted walking north on Homer St. The VPD have released a clip from a nearby security camera."Every indication suggests this senior was targeted because she appeared vulnerable," Sgt. Steve Addison said. "We're releasing this video with hopes of identifying the suspects and locating witnesses. We believe there is at least one person who intervened, and we'd like to speak to that person."Anyone with information has been asked to call 604-717-4021.
