Three men in Port Alberni have been charged with multiple child sex offences, including trafficking.
The trio has since been released, but have been given a long list of conditions by which they must abide.
According to the Port Alberni RCMP, charges were filed against Shaun Pater, Terrance Houbregs, and Wayne Moore on January 7, following an investigation by the General Investigation Section that began in 2020.
Pater was charged with 15 counts in relation to sexual offences on minors including trafficking of persons under the age of 18 years. Houbregs and Moore were each charged with 6 counts involving sexual offences on minors.
The men have been ordered not to "have contact or communicate directly or indirectly, or be in the presence of anyone under the age of 16 years," not to "go to any public park or swimming area, community centre, theatre, where persons under the age of 16 years are known to be present," and not to "go to any daycare centre, school or playground."
"This matter is now before the courts," the RCMP added. "No further updates will be provided."
