Toronto police call out Trudeau after convict on parole charged with murdering girlfriend

The Toronto Police Association (TPA) called out Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for allowing criminals to be let loose after a man convicted of assault allegedly murdered his girlfriend while on parole. Aaron Shea, 33, who was released from prison on statutory release, is charged with first degree murder for the death of Alisha Brooks, 34, in the city’s east end Sunday night.Shea was serving a sentence of three years and one month after he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and other charges. Police say they “attended a call for a shooting at a residence.”“It is alleged that: a woman was located out front of a residence who had been shot," wrote TPS.“Life-saving measures were performed and the woman was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”Shea was arrested at the scene. “The victim and suspect were known to each other,” wrote police. He was scheduled to attend the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Finch Ave. W, on Monday morning. He will remain in custody and will appear in court on January 10. .Moe wants ‘catch and release’ bail system reformed, keep serious offenders behind bars.Parole Board of Canada documents obtained by Global News state Shea is “a federal recidivist who was serving a three year and one month sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of assault, break and enter with intent, and fail to comply with order — at large.”According to the records, during an argument with his girlfriend in July 2020, Shea physically assaulted the victim and threw a brick at her.The victim called the police, and Shea “was arrested before being released on bail,” reported the outlet. A month later, he broke into the victim’s home through a window, “holding a handgun and a magazine.” The woman hit Shea with a baseball bat, and he dropped the weapon. Shea then choked her and locked himself in a room with the gun. He was arrested again and not released on bail. He was also given a lifetime firearms and ammunition ban.
