Two RCMP officers have been charged with dangerous driving following a years-long investigation into an incident that occurred while they were on duty in 2020.

On April 7, 2025, Const. Debra-Ann Wash and Const. Dorian Tooze were formally charged with operating a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public, under Section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code.

The charges stem from an incident on February 25, 2020, in Parkland County that prompted an investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).

ASIRT began its investigation on March 5, 2020, after being directed to look into the possible offence.

The agency gathered evidence and later forwarded the case to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), as required by the Police Act. After reviewing the file, the ACPS advised that the evidence met the threshold for prosecution.

ASIRT Executive Director Michael Ewenson then made the decision to lay charges against the officers.

Both officers have been released on appearance notices and are scheduled to make their first court appearance on May 21 in the Stony Plain Court of Justice.

ASIRT, which investigates serious injuries, deaths, or sensitive allegations of police misconduct involving Alberta police officers, stated that no further information will be released while the matter is before the courts.
