Vancouver has gone to great lengths to ensure that everything goes smoothly when Taylor Swift descends upon the city next week for a trio of concerts at BC Place. Authorities announced a number of measures, including road closures, tips for fans, and advisories for locals.The concerts are set to take place Friday December 6, Saturday December 7, and Sunday December 8, all at 7 p.m."With thousands of Swifties expected to attend the final three concerts, BC Place is working with partners including the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Police Department, and TransLink to create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone," officials wrote in a Swift lyric-filled release. "Those attending the concert or other events downtown are reminded to Stay Stay Stay prepared: plan ahead and allow for extra time to get where they need to go. Anticipate delays especially near BC Place, Rogers Arena and Concord Pacific Place. Whenever possible walk, bike, roll, or take transit to and from downtown."The city explained that BC Place and surrounding areas will be "strictly limited to ticket holders," and urged those without tickets to steer clear. Street closures include the 700 and 800 blocks of Beatty Street between Smithe Street and West Georgia Street, Pacific Boulevard from the Cambie Bridge off-ramp to Pat Quinn Way, Northbound Cambie Street Bridge off-ramp, and the 100 block of Robson Street between Cambie Street and Beatty Street. During a press conference, the VPD said officers would be out in full force maintaining the peace across the city, with a focus on the area around BC Place."Our objective here is, we want to be part of this positive experience for people," Sgt. Steve Addison said. "So visitors from outside, new to the city who might not know their way around, by all means, come and find us.""We encourage people who are coming here to come and interact with our officers," he added. "Say hi, take a picture. Trade [friendship] bracelets."
