Police in Vancouver are searching for a man believed to have broken into 16 homes since January.The suspect has been described as an Asian man in his 30s.According to the Vancouver Police Department, the incidents all occurred between West 16th Ave. to the north and West 70th Ave. to the south, Oak St. to the east and Elm St. to the west. The most recent break-in took place at a home near Marguerite St. and West 41st Ave.The suspect, who may live in the area, travels on foot and typically wears a dark baseball cap, dark hooded jacket, dark pants, and dark running shoes, along with blue gloves and a medical mask. He reportedly targets homes late at night or early in the morning, entering via unlocked doors and stealing cash or other valuables left unguarded..Police have increased patrols in the area and asked residents for surveillance footage in an attempt to catch the perpetrator."We are actively working to identify and arrest this suspect, who is linked to break-ins throughout Marpole, Kerrisdale, Arbutus Ridge, Oakridge and Shaunghnessey," Cnst. Tania Visintin said. "Until we find him, we're asking people to take extra precautions and to call police immediately if you encounter him."She said anyone with information can call 604-717-0610."This brazen behaviour is concerning, because it's occurring when people are at home in their beds," Visintin added. "Although nobody has been hurt, the fact this suspect is entering homes at night is frightening."
