One of Vancouver’s most prominent radio stations, Z95.3 made a “mutual decision” to part ways with morning show host Kid Carson for his opposition to vaccine mandates and support of the Freedom Convoy..“My heart is heavy, and it has been heavy for a long time,” said Carson..“I host a radio show, I’m expected to talk about all sorts of things, but it seems I have to avoid talking about all the things that really matter.”.The main topic Carson was referring to is the Freedom Convoy underway in the nation’s capital..“Am I supposed to talk about it? Am I allowed to talk about it? Can I say something without getting in trouble?” said Carson..“If you think the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa is a racist movement, you have been tricked. You have been fooled.”.The long time radio host expressed that the convoy has nothing to do with “race, or health, or Nazi flags, or masks, but rather keeping future children off of a digital ID system that “will control every aspect of their lives.”.Carson’s concerns reflect a proposition set forth in a December 2020 (since updated) academic paper titled: COVID-19 vaccine delivery: an opportunity to set up systems for the future..“Major global stakeholders must convene, collaborate, and collectively invest in global standards, legal infrastructure, common vocabularies and interoperable biometrically-supported digital health technologies,” reads the paper..“We have a narrow opportunity to set the stage for such fair and sustainable infrastructure across the globe. If done well, we can ensure the promise of the COVID-19 vaccine portfolio leads to future widespread vaccination – and protection – for global populations.”.The paper is authored by Rebecca Weintraub from Ariadne Labs, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Boston, Boston along with co-authors from Simprints, and others..Concern of a global pandemic setting the stage for wide-scale digital ID systems has been expressed by some, while others chalk it up as conspiratorial hogwash..Quebec — a province that has consistently pushed for some of Canada’s harshest vaccine-related policies — has considered including documents issued by private companies, such as credit cards and proof of insurance in a digital identity wallet scheduled for 2025..“The final thing I want to say is: why is the news not telling us the truth? We see truckers setting up bouncy castles for kids, feeding the homeless, dancing, being so damn Canadian… but the news is calling it violent,” said Carson..Hours after Carson’s segment, Devon Tschritter, general manager of Stingray Vancouver, released a statement..“We respect that he has a right to his opinions, but he does not have a right to broadcast misleading or inaccurate opinions and label them as facts,” said Tschritter..“After today’s show, we reached a mutual decision to part ways. Kid has some very strong views on a number of polarizing topics.
