Around 30 people gathered to demonstrate against sexual minority topics being taught in schools in Calgary. .“The values that built this country are under attack,” said protest organizer Nathaniel Pawlowski at the Monday event. .“Judeo-Christian values, the Ten Commandments, the Bible, prayer, the Bill of Rights, freedom, capitalism, the family unit and strong men most of all.” . Protestors waved Canadian flags and held signs with messages such as “Weirdos in drag: Gender benders reading to children!” and “Protect the children.” .Protestors blared Christian music at the start, but they set up a microphone area and gave speeches. Many of the speakers said they were praying for sexual minorities. .About 60 counterprotestors stood in front of the CBE to offer support to sexual minorities. Counterprotestors waved pro-sexual minority flags and held signs with messages such as “Trans lives matter” and “Inclusive education saves lives.” .They mocked the protestors for believing in God. When a protestor would make a provocative comment, they would retort back. .The Western Standard attempted to speak with multiple counterprotestors, but was confronted by a group of them who demanded it leave the area. .“Go to the pedophile side,” said a counterprotestor. .“They rape hundreds of thousands of Canadian children.” . Gender ideology protestProtestors had Canadian flags and carried signs with messages such as "Let me be a child" and “Protect the children.” .Protestor Chris O’Neill said he is “really concerned about the way our education system is going.” .“That it seems to be moving away from true education of teaching reading, writing, history, civics, and all that stuff and going more towards teaching gender ideology and political ideology,” said O’Neill. .“It really bothers me because we’re going to end up with more generations in the future of uneducated people.” .In a sense, O’Neill said he is not opposed to gender ideology if it is an extra.
