Toronto cops have arrested an alleged carjacker who also shot at several vehicles on Highway 401 on Wednesday night.Troy Ledrew, 29, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm after shooting at 10 vehicles in Mississauga and shooting at a vehicle in an attempted carjacking in Toronto."Officers responded to carjacking reports on Dundas and Carroll Streets at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. They say a man was suffering a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital," reported Canadian Press, adding the suspect tried to flee in the victim’s car but was pursued by officers and arrested.“We are seeing criminals be a little bolder in how they approach these crimes," said Graham McGregor, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Auto Theft and Bail Reform in a media event."There are two ways to steal a car, one way is out of your driveway in the middle of the night and the other is with a gun to your head."Carjackings are up 14% in Durham, said McGregor."In my neck of the woods in Peel, it’s double, in York it’s double and in Toronto it’s up 16%.".The highway shootings took place on Tuesday after 5 a.m., when the OPP received several 911 calls reporting that a man was seen firing at passing vehicles on Hwy. 401, near Dixie Road, in Mississauga, reported CP."It was reported that the individual stole a vehicle from a passing motorist and fled the area."
