Those hoping to do some Boxing Day shopping at Indigo on Robson St. in Vancouver faced some opposition as anti-Israel demonstrators held a protest outside the front doors. Those in attendance called for a boycott of the book shop, and accused it of facilitating "genocide" in Gaza..Demonstrators descended upon Indigo shortly after noon, and tried to block the entrance. Their attempts were thwarted by police, and they decided to instead set up shop a few feet over in front of the main windows. Before long, the entire block of Robson St. between Thurlow and Burrard had been closed to new vehicle traffic, though those parked on the street were still allowed to exit..Try as they may, without control of the doors, demonstrators were not able to prevent people from entering or exiting the store, though the event dramatically reduced the number of customers..To show their collective disdain for law enforcement, protestors chanted "F*ck the police" in both English and Yiddish..From Indigo, they marched down Robson St. towards Robson Square, where the demonstration ended..Within minutes of their departure, it was business as usual at Indigo..WATCH: Anti-Israel demonstrators intimidate Indigo customers on Boxing Day.The protest in Vancouver was just one of many that took place at Indigo locations across the country on Boxing Day.Demonstrators argued that Indigo should be boycotted because CEO Heather Reisman is director of the Heseg Foundation, which according to a poster spotted at the event, "recruits mercenaries to the Israeli military."Those in attendance claimed that Israel's actions in Gaza constitute "genocide," thus Reisman and, by extension, Indigo, are guilty. In a statement Indigo pushed back on the claim that, they, or Heather Reisman "privately funds the Israeli Defense Forces," calling it "categorically untrue."
