A brawl involving dozens of young people erupted at West Edmonton Mall on Boxing Day.

Law enforcement and security were able to calm things down, and eventually some semblance of order was restored.

Although the cause isn't known, it can be assumed the mayhem resulted from a potent cocktail of materialism, sociopathy, narcissism and stupidity — core values among Canada's woke, smartphone-parented, youth.

"I work at the Specsavers," said one observer on social media. "It happened literally right in front of my eyes. Two teens started beating the sh*t out of each other. They ran into, like, a wooden decorative pillar and it tore out of the fixture, so that was probably the bang heard by onlookers. Fun to watch, honestly."

Sources speculated the brawl may have been caused by a conflict among teenagers from the same school who had an dispute to settle.

"I think we're at a point where there needs to be more serious punishment for crimes committed by minors," said one armchair ethicist on X. "Too many brawls, stabbings, mobbing — kids fear no consequence these days. And the attention seeking nature of teenagers gets amplified with social media and dangerous behaviour spreads like wildfire."

West Edmonton Mall has a history of violence, although these are relatively rare given its size and the number of visitors it attracts.

In August 2023, there was a significant shooting incident at the mall, leading to a lockdown.
