Liberal MP Leah Taylor Roy forced the Environment Committee to pause proceedings so she could make an erroneous claim that there are no carbon taxes in Canada. Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) Atlantic Director Devin Drover was testifying at committee on the “devastating” impacts of the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s liberal government’s ever-increasing carbon tax, which they brand as “carbon pricing.” Tory MP Branden Leslie asked Drover what CTF makes of the Liberals “international carbon tax on global shipping.”“We’re absolutely opposed to all carbon taxes,” replied Drover. Roy introduced a “point of clarification.”“I don’t know of any carbon taxes here in Canada, so I didn’t understand the witness’s response.” “I don’t understand the question.”Drover replied, “A tax is a tax is a tax, no mater what you call it.”“The ‘carbon levy’ is absolutely a tax, it drives up the price of an item.”
