n parliament this weekThe city of St.Thomas and Oxford Counties in Ontario are seeing the deadly drug carfentanil on the streets, warns SouthWestern Public Health (SPH).SPH, a public health department in St.Thomas, issued the warning — claiming that "community partners and people who use the substances" are reporting the opioid is present in the region.It warns that the substance is very hard to detect — it has no smell, taste, or way to visually identify it. .The drug is extremely toxic and deadly in small amounts. According to a BC government statement, the drug is similar to fentanyl and is often added to heroin, or sold as fake "oxy" pills or cocaine. Carfentanil can be up to 100 times more dangerous than fentanyl. .In Question Period in Parliament this week, Conservative MP Andrew Lawton mentioned the ongoing opioid crisis and the presence of carfentanil in his riding.
