Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said it would be bonkers if former NDP MP Olivia Chow (Trinity-Spadina, ON) became Toronto mayor. .“We’ve seen what happens when you put Liberal-NDP mayors in charge of cities,” said Poilievre in a Thursday interview on CityNews 101.1. .“Look at what happened to Vancouver under their NDP mayor.” .The video starts off with the CityNews 101.1 host saying people have heard what Ontario Premier Doug Ford would think of Chow as Toronto mayor. .“I have to ask you, how does this strike you, Pierre Poilievre?” said the host..“Toronto mayor Olivia Chow.” .Poilievre said Vancouver’s NDP mayor led to the Downtown Eastside turning “into a living hell with tent cities everywhere, housing prices became the third most expensive in the entire world because the council wouldn’t let any new building go ahead.” He added taxes went through the roof. .The Conservative leader acknowledged that's what happens when people put NDP or Liberal mayors in power.
