Edmonton police have released video footage of a suspect vehicle involved in a 2024 hit-and-run that killed a 13-year-old boy, as they continue to seek tips more than a year after the fatal collision.About 4:05 a.m. on May 29, 2024, officers were called to the intersection of 48 St. and 34 Ave., where EMS was treating a young cyclist struck by a vehicle. The boy died of his injuries shortly after.The Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section took over the case and determined the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of 34 Ave., just east of 48 Street. .Investigators identified the suspect vehicle at the time as a blue 2017 Mazda 3 sedan, which had damage to its front end and driver’s side. Police have now released a short video clip of the vehicle from the night of the crash.“As we continue to investigate this tragic loss of life, we are once again appealing to the public with video footage,” said Acting Sgt. Chris Deslaurier. “While we are aware that significant time has passed, we have remained committed to ensuring that this incident is investigated to its fullest extent. We are hopeful that a member of the public will come forward with additional information about this vehicle or its driver, so we can provide some form of resolution to this young man’s family.”Police are asking anyone with information to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
