VANCOUVER — Thousands of Iranians and allies gathered downtown on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Iran's now-former supreme leader was eliminated less than 24 hours after Israeli and American forces launched attacks on the Islamic regime..News of Khamenei's killing broke as people began arriving at David Lam Park. Those in attendance expressed their gratitude to President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."USA, Israel, continue — thank you!" they chanted..Before long, the area was packed, with Iranian, Canadian, and Israeli flags flying as far as they eye could see..While organizers led a number of chants, the majority of the time was spent singing and dancing..Among the songs rally-goers sang along to was Andy's "Daram Miram be Tehran," which translates to "I'm going to Tehran." Many expressed hope that Khamenei's death was the beginning of the end of the regime, and that they would soon be able to go back to a free Iran..They also sang — and danced — along to YMCA in an apparent tribute to Trump..Among those in attendance was Navid Farahani.."We're ecstatic," he told the Western Standard. "Iranians all across the world just this morning heard the glorious news that Ayatollah Khamenei officially got assassinated."Farahani thanked the Israeli military for "protecting the Iranian people against this murderous regime.""Over 2,500 years ago Cyrus the Great saved the Israeli people," he explained. "Now Israelis and Americans have returned the favour."."It's monumental," Farahani said of Khamenei's death, arguing that "the last 47 years was a humiliation ritual for all Iranians."He argued that it was the "day of reckoning" for the regime, and that the supreme leader's demise could also put an end to Iran's state-sponsored Islamism..Farahani warned, however, that taking out Khamenei is just the first step."There are still a lot of agents related to the IRGC and Basij forces that need to be eliminated before it’s safe for the Iranian people to come out into the streets," he explained. "While we are extremely happy that the leader of the Velayat-e Faqih is eliminated, we still need to focus on our mission to fully get rid of every single one of these guys, and ensure we have King Reza Pahlavi coming in without any dangers to him.".UPDATED: Khamenei killed during US-Israeli attack on Iran's Islamic regime
