A woman has been hospitalized in critical condition after a man set her on fire in a random attack at Kipling Station in Toronto on Friday. .Toronto police Const. Edward Parks told CityNews Toronto officers received a call around 12:30 p.m. in the Kipling Avenue and Dundas Street area. .“The reports are is that a man assaulted a woman, at some point, he doused the woman with some type of accelerant and ignited the accelerant,” said Parks. .Toronto paramedics said the victim is in her 20s, and she is suffering from life-threatening injuries. .Parks said the perpetrator is in custody. Toronto police said the victim and perpetrator are not known to each other, and an investigation is ongoing. .Toronto Mayor John Tory said he is praying for the victim. .“This is a shocking criminal act that shouldn’t happen anywhere in our city,” said Tory. .“I want to thank TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) employees and bystanders for rushing to help the victim of this attack along with TTC special constables, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics.” .Tory said he has spoken with TTC CEO Rick Leary and Toronto police chief James Ramer.
