A 40-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in the popular Vancouver neighbourhood of Gastown.Her suspected killer, a 31-year-old man, was arrested, but promptly released.According to the Vancouver Police Department, the incident took place shortly before 4:30 a.m. on July 13 near the intersection of Carrall St. and Water St. When first responders arrived on scene, they tried to save the victim's life, but to no avail.She has been identified as Ivy Michelle Bell, originally from Surrey.The VPD have not disclosed the suspect's name or provided the public with any descriptors, noting that such information would only be made available "pending completing of the investigation."It is believed that the two knew each other, though police did not explain how or from where.Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call the VPD Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
