Pro-Palestine demonstrators were recorded intimidating customers outside an Oakville Ontario Indigo Spirit bookstore on Boxing Day.
"How many kids have you killed today?" shouted one protester to a family leaving the store, which markets Indigo Spirit as "a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere."
Another protester shouted at the family "genocide — what you are doing is wrong."
According to Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), Indigo is being targeted by the "Palestine solidarity movement" because of its alleged connection to Israel's military.
The founder and CEO of Indigo, Heather Reisman, co-founded the HESEG Foundation for Lone Soldiers, which "encourages foreigners" to join Israeli's military, says CJPME on its website.
"For months, anti-Israel demonstrators have been engaged in an insidious campaign targeting one of Canada’s greatest success stories: Heather Reisman and her Indigo bookstore empire," reported the National Post in September.
"The crusade against the Canadian retailer is part of the broader boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel that gained new life among those who have singled out the Jewish state as the source of all evil since Hamas’s brutal October 7 massacre."
Reisman has publicly called-out the targeting of Indigo stores by demonstrators, particularly in relation to her support for the HESEG Foundation.
In a podcast, she said the foundation, "funds education for people with no parents."
In a statement Indigo said, "The claim of this group, that Indigo or Heather Reisman privately funds the Israeli Defense Forces is categorically untrue."
