The mainstream media wants you to believe Mark Carney is the man who will successfully fight against President Trump and win the tariff war. However, Carney would be even worse than Justin Trudeau. He began his campaign to become the leader of the Liberal Party, stating he was an “outsider.” This was a stretch. In fact, he is the consummate insider. He is the insider sitting in the backroom whom the face of the party listens to for counsel, even when the members of the party have spoken in opposition, as in the case of PM Trudeau. While the majority of Canadians wanted Justin Trudeau to step down from office, it was Carney in the backroom advising him, thereby thwarting the will of the nation. Carney was the governor of the Bank of Canada (2008-2013) and then of the Bank of England (2013-2020.) Many in the press present him as successfully navigating the choppy waters of deregulation, global financial crisis, Brexit, and the COVID pandemic. But, was he instrumental in these successes? The unemployment rate in Canada during Carney’s tenure as governor rose. Although he is credited (especially by himself) with successfully handling the global financial crisis, some argue that it was the pre-existing regulations and general economic structure in place before he took office that brought success. In England, he was criticized for making statements favouring continued membership in the EU and scaremongering during the Brexit referendum. As governor, he was supposed to be neutral on political issues, as most government officials are. As a result Carney’s actions were questioned in parliament. During the COVID–19 pandemic, Carney was pushing the climate change agenda instead of being primarily concerned with the health care and economic struggles of Canadians. People were dying, and his concern was the far-left, radical climate agenda. Here is a man whose priorities are upside down. After leaving the Bank of England, Mr. Carney took a position as the UN special envoy on climate action and finance. He was also appointed vice-chair of ESG at Brookfield Asset Management in Toronto. (Environmental, Social and Governance.) There, he advocated for net zero and the economic transition needed to reach this goal. In support of his advocacy for the UN’s net zero policy, Mark Carney authored a book titled, Value(s): Building a Better World for All. In short, the book promotes social values over market values. This, of course is the goal of ESG.ESG is an acronym for Environmental, Social, and Governance, a UN-promoted system of measures for business performance as determined by environmentalist, social activist, and progressive ethicists, instead of using neutral measures to view a business such as revenue, profit, or return on investment. The question with ESG is not that corporations do not have social or environmental responsibilities, it is who is setting the standards?Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) makes up a significant part of the “Social” category. Where does that lead?To promote “Social”, Bud Light made a series of commercials focusing on inclusion by employing the trans-actor Dylan Mulvaney as a spokesperson. Bud Light stock crashed and the parent company Anheuser-Busch suffered significant losses. Obviously, these are not good business measures. With good reason has ESG been criticized for being a back door to socialism. Mark Carney is the front man for the UN in promoting ESG and the net zero policy. Net zero is an impossible dream and Canadian Bill-12 which calls for net zero by 2050, does not address the methods needed to achieve this goal, nor the enormous costs. (A Royal Bank of Canada report sets the price tag at $2 trillion, federal budget projections are between $3.4 and $5.2 trillion.) But In the backroom the Liberal Party has a way to deal with raising such large sums; tax, borrow, tax.As recently observed, some members of the EU are now saying America under Trump, does not share the same values as Europe. This is a politically charged statement that reflects a lack of unambiguous messaging. What is meant is that Brussels favours ESG, further support for the Ukraine war and other issues. Germany, along with other, mostly western European members, falls in line with this system of measures. However, not all members of the EU agree, nor does the USA. A list of reasons why the EU is failing could include: A longstanding conflict between members who wish the EU to become the “United States of Europe,” with Brussels as its capital, and those who wanted it limited to a simple economic union. Encroachment on democratic freedoms.Poor economic performance. The implementation of the single currency (the euro) that has favoured countries like Germany and disadvantaged countries like Greece. And perhaps most importantly, the EU’s inability to effectively deal with a war in Europe. Many of these problems can, in whole or part, be attributed to over-regulation, the implementing of a radical green policy, the use of ESG, and grand rhetoric but relatively little economic aid for the war in Ukraine. This is important for Canadians. Mark Carney is committed to the UN’s net-zero goals, regardless of the cost to human flourishing. He was accused of violating the code of conduct for the governors of the Bank of England by favoring the EU over the UK in the Brexit referendum. He is, or was, an advisor to the current UK government. Dr. A.W. Barber is the former Director of Asian Studies at the University of Calgary. He is internationally active and has wide-ranging interests..‘I RESIGNED FROM THEM ALL’: Carney caught lying about board positions. As noted in multiple news articles, Mark Carney misled Canadian voters regarding his advice to Brookfield Asset Management on moving their headquarters to the USA and as pointed out by Jen Hodgson (Western Standard, 28 Feb 2025) he claimed to have resigned from multiple international board positions but has not. Carney, at best, is a globalist and will promote the elitist position that globalism entails. Far worse, as prime minister of Canada, he would entangle us in failing EU policies at a time when Canada must modernize its economy for the 21st century. Either way, he is not a champion for the Canadian working classes, nor does he have a positive vision for Canada’s future. He foolishly wants to show he can fight President Trump, and he will not put Canada first. For months now, the mainstream media has been strongly promoting articles advocating fighting Trump, anti-Americanism, and a false sense of Canadian nationalism. All of this is to drive emotions when voting comes around. Stirring up emotion is the only way the Liberals have a chance to hold onto power. The Liberals come up short if voters intelligently and critically evaluate Liberal policies. Voting for Carney to be the leader of the Liberal Party is to cut off your nose to spite your face. He is most assuredly not the man.
