This is a twisted and completely unnecessary confiscation program that has only two objectives in mind: to ensure Canadians are defenseless against the criminals the Liberals won’t put in jail and to ensure we all know who's in absolute control over our lives in Canada..If Trudeau thought he could quietly starve us by cutting off the fertilizer that farmers need to grow food, he’s been exposed..On Wednesday night, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight, which happens to be the highest rated cable news show on television, featured an interview with former Minister of Agriculture Gerry Ritz. Ritz, a friend from the days of the Stephen Harper Conservative government, hasn’t had a huge profile since he left politics and retired to his farm in Saskatchewan. But he was always a straight shooter as an MP and as a cabinet minister and he sometimes got in trouble for eschewing party talking points and being a little too honest and specific about his thoughts..Ritz is fighting mad about Trudeau putting a 35% tariff on fertilizer because he believes nitrogen is a source of greenhouse gasses and we must eliminate those even if it means farmers can’t produce enough food to feed Canadians — let alone the world — as they always have..The former Ag minister suggested Trudeau is still festering over being thoroughly embarrassed and upstaged by the Freedom Convoy in February and this assault on food is his latest volley to silence critics..You don’t ever upstage Justin Trudeau because if there’s only one thing this spoiled brat of a politician has learned in his using life, it’s the importance of having an audience and continuing to speak to that audience even when you have nothing of importance or relevance to say to them..But let us be plain about Trudeau’s latest climate change initiative and the apparent state of his mental acumen. This is madness. Utter madness..We can’t play games with food – it’s kind of vital to our survival and without it we're all going to perish..Trudeau has long been dismissed as an insouciant politician who is all effervescence and no substance, but this time he's strayed too far from the line of sanity and what he's doing could eventually be a crime of historical significance..As Tucker Carlson noted in his interview with Ritz, and as I noted in my last column on this issue, the only dictators in the modern history of the world that have deliberately reduced the food supply in the name of ideology: The Soviet Union’s Joseph Stalin during the infamous famine of the 1930s that starved millions of Ukrainians and Russians and Mao Zedong during the Great Leap Forward of the 1950s. .It is time to stop saying this is a gross exaggeration. Trudeau has told us how much he admires the Chinese communist system because it is so effectual in quick time..But this war on farmers in Canada could be just as serious and Trudeau has no valid reason to be doing it. Except he believes it is advancing an extreme ideology that's aimed at reversing an imagined catastrophic climate change. .Will reducing nitrogen make any difference to the global production of greenhouse gasses? Probably not at all. China and India continue to produce more greenhouse gasses while the West continues to reduce our output. So how are we getting ahead by potentially creating a famine in Canada..Canadians are furious with Trudeau. It’s not just the chronic demonstrations wherever he appears. When a pub in Prince Edward Island recently posted on their website some pictures of staff posing with the prime minister, the reaction was immediate outrage. It’s one thing for the pub owners to somehow forget that it was Trudeau and his insane COVID-19 policies that kept pubs closed during lockdowns — and could well do so again in the fall — but to promote this shallow man and think his visit to your establishment was somehow a golden moment, well they shouldn’t be wondering why they received such a hostile pushback on social media. .In the name of sanity — in the name of God — it's time for responsible people in the Liberal Party, in the cabinet, in the caucus if there are any left, to tell Trudeau he needs to go. We’ve had enough of his authoritarian plays and his climate change games. It is one thing to tax our fossil fuels so it's next to impossible to drive our cars and heat our homes in the winter, it's another to declare war on farmers and threaten our food supply..It is time to go.
