Re: Video discussion Hannaford/FildebrandtMr. Hannaford, I just watched Premier Smith's excellent presentation as well as your excellent follow-up commentary with Derek Fildebrandt (at the 23:22 minute mark n the video.) You and Derek hit the nail on the head, when you pointed out that she did not raise anything about constitutional issues at all. But what some people miss is that the constitutional issues go back to the dysfunctional arrangements of 1867, referred to as confederation. Of course 99% of Canadians and Albertans are unaware that the confederation was fake because it is constitutionally and legally impossible to confederate 'colonies' owned by the Crown. I heard it said once that Quebec never had to "separate" because there was nothing to separate from! Sir John A. MacDonald was no George Washington. He was an employee of the Crown which still owns Canada, and which is why politicians swear allegiance to the King. .And to make matters worse the Act of Westminster of 1931 did not change anything because the entities called 'provinces' never entered into confederation as independent states even then. Finally, to add icing to the cake, the Canadian constitution referred to as "Charter" is exactly that, it is a document granted by the Crown, which of course Quebec didn't even sign. Therefore, I believe that even Premier Smith is somewhat naive to think that the Carney cabal will ever take seriously anything other than their bizarre agenda, but will sneak around its way to continue the eco-extremist globalist agenda of which Carney is a member. Finally, even Poilievre does not admit to the extent of the corruption, by coming out swinging concerning money laundering by the Chinese and drug cartels, and their penetration of Canada, as if Trump has no valid grievances at all, but simply robotically repeats his talking points over and over with very little spontaneous emotional "umph."When the Conservative leadership has its back against the wall, it just lets the leftist extremists set the narrative. The Conservatives could not even obtain a MINORITY government in 10 years in 4 elections, and this will never change under the current constitutional and electoral arrangements.David GoldmanCalgary, AB
