Enough is enough..The world was rocked by images of an enraged mob storming the Capitol in Washington D.C. As of this writing, one life had been lost, many have been injured, and the full extent of the damage has yet to be tallied. This is a direct result of a President who refuses to concede that he lost an election and prefers to go out with a childish and destructive tantrum laced with lies and incitement..Trump had every right to challenge potential voter irregularities in the courts, but he lost there too. Agree with their rulings or not, the rule of law must ultimately prevail..There are no excuses to be made for the actions of Trump. He gathered his most fervent of followers down the street from the Capitol building to deliver an outrageous speech full of statements – shot down by every court – that the election had been fraudulently stolen from him. He then called for them to march to the Capitol in order to protest the ceremonial counting of ballots which would confirm Joe Biden as the winner. The riot that ensued was a disgrace to democracy and the republic..With that many people wrongly convinced that there was widespread electoral fraud, what did Trump think would happen? When Trump finally took to Twitter to try and calm the rioting, he poured more gasoline on the fire by restating the that the election had been rigged. It was an irresponsible and repugnant move that has been rejceted by many courts, even those with Republican judges..There were some anarchists in the mix who only wanted to destroy things and couldn’t care less about Trump. Of the thousands out there though, let’s not pretend that the vast majority weren’t Trump supporters. I can only swallow so much gaslighting in a day. It was Trump who spoke to that procession before they headed to the Capitol..In a nation as large as the United States with the tens of thousands of polling stations required to hold a federal election, there likely was some odd and isolated goings-on. Fervent supporters of both candidates may feel obligated to meddle with ballots and counting. But there was no evidence proven in court that there was any kind of widespread conspiracy to fix the vote in the kind of numbers which would have stolen the election from Trump. Many of the judges who declared no wrongdoing were appointees of Trump themselves. Rest assured, if they could have found a way to keep Trump in office, they would have done so.. MORGAN: Smith’s departure a sign of talk radio’s slow death .For those who truly like Trump, I suggest that they consider conceding on his behalf. This foolishness is unbecoming of a president, and now proving to be downright dangerous. Start listing and celebrating Trump’s accomplishments in office. Look to what will be the positive aspects of his legacy. There are quite a few. But if this temper tantrum over losing continues, it will become his only lasting legacy..I want to see a Republican back in the White House. One way to ensure that this doesn’t happen would be to spend the next four years complaining about the last election, rather than preparing for the next. If the Democrats hadn’t wasted so much time trying to prematurely oust Trump since 2016, they likely would have won by a much larger margin in 2020. Republicans shouldn’t make that mistake..I don’t care that the left rioted when Trump won. I don’t care that they never got over it. Two wrongs do not make a right..There is not much dignity left to be salvaged, but there is still a little. Even if Trump won’t let it go, his supporters can. The transition is going to happen whether Trump’s remaining supporters like it or not. This is a done deal. Show some grace.
