President Donald Trump is a bombastic character who shoots from the hip and often has departures from the truth. It’s hard to know when to take his musings seriously or if he is just trying to shake things up. When it comes to Trump’s proposal for Gaza though, let’s hope he’s deadly serious. It’s the best idea I have seen for the region yet.Let’s face it. The “two state solution” is a dream because the Arab world has utterly no interest in it. While Israel has supported maintaining a blended population within its borders, Arab nations have ejected nearly every Jew from their countries. Israel has over 2 million Arab citizens living peacefully and with full rights within it. We rarely hear of this, however. In 2005, Israel bent under international pressure and disengaged from Gaza and the West Bank. Over 21 Jewish settlements were dismantled and Palestinians were given free reign over the land. It was a form of two state solution and over $20 billion US dollars came from other nations to help Palestinians build their own state. So, what did the Palestinians do? As soon as they had control over the territories, they put the terrorist organization of Hamas in charge of the government in Gaza and empowered the terrorists of Hezbollah in the West Bank. Instead of developing an economy and improving the standard of living, they dug hundreds of miles of terror tunnels to attack Israel. Rather than expand infrastructure for their people, they dug out water pipes and converted them into rockets to fire into Israel. The Arab world has no interest in a two-state solution. They want to wipe out every Jew in Israel and won’t settle for anything less. They make no secret of it as they pour funds into terrorist groups attacking Israel and chant “from the river to the sea”. There can be no negotiation with them when the only demand is the annihilation of every Jew in the Middle East yet world organizations demand that Israel does just that. With years of fundraising, digging, and planning, the Palestinian people set off their revolution in October 2024 by raiding a music festival and peaceful kibbutzes. They went on an orgy of torture, destruction, rape and murder as they slaughtered 1,200 people. They took hundreds of hostages who they tortured, raped and often killed and have only released them on occasion when backed against the wall. They were given the world on a platter with funding and access to one of the most beautiful coastlines on earth but rather than embracing it, they devolved into subhuman savagery and expanded their culture of mindless hate. They break every peace deal and yet again have broken another agreement to release hostages.Palestinians have given up the right to the land bordering Israel. It’s time they migrated to the Arab nations who funded their war by proxy. They want to live in a Jew-free world. Egypt and Jordan can offer that to them. Their values of beating women and murdering gay people will be better accepted there anyway. There never has been a country of Palestine so let’s quit pretending the world owes them one. Palestinians fit into Egypt or Jordan as well as they will anywhere. It’s rather telling how mortified Egyptians and Jordanians at the prospect of an influx of Gazans within their midst. They know they created a monster and don’t want to live with it. Too bad. Gaza provides a fine buffer for Israel and with a third party like the USA in charge of it, the strip could begin to meet its potential. The region could prosper with rebuilding focused on housing, hospitals, schools and businesses. That will only happen under third-party oversight though. We know the Palestinians will just try to turn the zone into a terrorism launch pad again if given the chance. Let a Trump Tower rise on the coast. Clean those beaches and build some resorts. Golf courses are much prettier than rocket batteries. The area is little more than rubble and that is purely due to the intransigence of Gazans when it came to releasing the hostages. The war could have ended nearly a year ago but Gazans wouldn’t let it. Israel won’t stop until every single citizen is accounted for and they shouldn’t.Displaced Palestinians would be welcome to pursue working opportunities back in Gaza if they prove they can set aside their hate and are ready to live peacefully. Any evidence of terrorist activity or planning could and would be dealt with harshly.Quit pretending the Gazan people weren’t supportive of the atrocities of October 7th and the attacks launched on Israel since. Hamas couldn’t hide hundreds of hostages for over a year without participation from the public nor hide and launch thousands of rockets. They couldn’t have planned for and launched that assault on Israel without a complicit population. They made their bed. Some time wandering in the desert could do the Gazan people some good. It will offer them a chance for some introspection and perhaps inspire them to evolve upward and embrace 18th-century values. They may even begin to consider women’s rights one day. Hey, it served Moses and his bunch well enough.Trump is offering the first feasible solution to the Palestinian issue we have seen in generations. Let’s hope he plans to follow through with it.
