For the developed countries, such as Canada, we need to consume less and reduce our standard of living..Instead of helping impoverished countries, we need to keep them poor and reduce our standard of living to their standard. My bad..Eco-warriors want developed countries to accept self-denial and abstinence as a matter of a climate emergency or we all die..Having extra income to spend on luxuries used to be the goal. Go to school to get an excellent education and a job. Buy a house and start a family. Drive a nice car that gets upgraded every few years. Retire somewhere that you’ve always wanted to live. That was most people’s life goals..Eco-warriors view that as a shameful past that must be relegated to the history books..This doomsday scenario goes way beyond the normal left-wing hatred of money and wealth to a much deeper hatred of modern society..How the eco-warriors think that most people will agree to this lifestyle is a mystery to me. I like heat in the winter, air conditioning in the summer, a roof over my head especially during hail storms, and a car to take me from A to B quickly and comfortably..I don’t enjoy camping for fun and I sure don’t want to live that way!.We live in a democracy and the nihilist eco-warriors are a small minority who are free to live poor or die, but I’m not taking part, nor are the majority of Canadians.
