After sitting in jail since February 13, pro-life grandmother Linda Gibbons, 76, was freed last Monday when found not guilty of breaking the law by protesting outside Toronto’s Morgentaler Clinic abortion mill.Did she stop traffic? Burn the Canadian flag? Shoot up or smash windows? Throw Molotov cocktails? Set vehicles ablaze? Get in cops’ faces to defiantly taunt them? Perhaps chant vicious death threats?No, she didn’t do any of that. But if she had, like the mobs of pro-Hamas protesters allowed to freely overrun streets across Canada, Gibbons probably never would have been arrested and tossed behind bars.Gibbons merely stood near the abortion clinic with a sign with a picture of a baby crying. It read: “Why mom? When I have so much love to give?” .Granted, Gibbons whose goal is to protect mothers and the unborn refused bail. But she served more time than violent criminals do under the Liberal’s catch and release policy.In fact, while Gibbons was locked behind bars, a BC judge said a 54-year-old man’s “relatively modest’ collection of child porn — nasty photos of “essentially naked” victimized boys aged nine to 16 — only warranted a sentence to be served in in the community..BC man spared jail time for 'relatively modest' child porn collection.One should celebrate justice being served when the judge determined that Gibbons didn’t break a 30-year-old injunction under Ontario’s Safe Access to Abortion Services Act (SAASA) that bans pro-life actions like praying, counseling or exhibiting disapproval of abortion within 50 metres of Ontario’s eight — eight! — abortion facilities.Who said abortion, that has killed more than four million babies in Canada, isn’t big business? That’s according to hard statistical data collected by Campaign Life Coalition (CLC.).Time and again, justice has eluded Gibbons who has been repeatedly arrested and served a total of more than 11 years in jail for the ‘crime’ of peacefully speaking for the unborn.In fact, the manner in which Gibbons has been treated by the justice system represents an embarrassment, a travesty, and a blemish on Canada.Gibbons is a target of pro-abortion forces that carry so much clout, the perception is that they, not the courts or cowardly politicians, call the shots in Canada..According to a February 13 post on X by CLC’s Pete Baklinski, “one police officer told Gibbons she had a right to be outside clinic. Then prior to her arrest, police allegedly came and went a few times before finally arresting her.” Who kicked up a stink and took police away from their jobs of dealing with real crime by intervening to have her arrested?It must drive the militant pro-abortionist to wailing and gnashing their teeth because they haven’t been able to break Gibbons or make her stand down. Don’t doubt for a moment that they will be poised like black widows, ready to 'capture' her in the act again.The reality is that in Canada, there’s a double standard for protesters. Grandmothers get hauled off to jail. Bullying militants get to aggressively carry on. .Gibbons didn’t verbally harass anyone, as pro-abortion counter protesters were free to do outside the Alberta Legislature. That “friend" was from the Guns and Gangs Unit.“Why did the court provide someone from this department? Is the court trying to say that pro-life activists are gangsters?” Balinski told LifeSite News. So, caring about the unborn and choosing not to speak to represent their inability to speak for themselves is a sign of mental instability? Under Premier Doug Ford’s watch, the SAASA passed in 2018 by former premier Kathleen Wynne’s Liberal government, remains intact.Enough police manpower will be available to keep you safe from a Christian grandma peacefully holding a sign to witness for the unborn.
