Early on in the COVID-19 ‘pandemic’ that terrified, traumatized and financially devastated so many Canadians, one priority weighed heavily on the federal Liberal government. That was to protect itself from criticism or embarrassment... and also from legal liability surrounding the $8 billion that taxpayers paid for COVID-19 vaccines to seven pharmaceutical companies — including Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. The solution was easy. Simply deny Commons committees access to the terms of the contracts, despite relentless calls from opposition Conservatives for the transparency Canadians are entitled to..Records show secret oaths signed to shield Liberals from embarrassment during vaccine procurement .And just in case, also swear health officials and federal managers in 29 departments to secrecy. Have them sign confidential agreements preventing them from disclosing information. For this snippet, which is actually a very important and very chilling snippet, we thank once more the estimable Blacklock’s Reporter, which got its hands on a federal memo through an Access to Information request..Interesting. If the information wasn’t possibly damaging, there would have been no need to force everyone to keep their mouths shut, betray us and sign away their integrity. Right?Thank goodness, Canadians had Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam to protect their interests.Oh wait. Tam, whose duty was to look after the health interests of Canadians, herself signed that secret pledge to keep information from them. Here's what she (and the rest of them) signed: “As an employee of the Government of Canada I acknowledge I have read and understood the Values And Ethics Code For The Public Sector. I remain bound by my oath.”It also stated: “Unauthorized disclosure of any confidential information including but not limited to disclosures or communications to supplier competitors or to the media may result in embarrassment, criticism or claims against Canada and may jeopardize Canada’s supplier relations and procurement processes.”In my view, Tam betrayed Canadians by agreeing to cover for the Liberal government. This would be the same high-paid Tam who offered Canadians advice on masking up like: “If you can get a cotton material like a T-shirt, you cut it up, you fold it and put elastic bands around it — this is a non-medical facial covering.” Or sneeze into a Kleenex to ward off infection from the virus that she initially said posed little threat. Or, wear a mask during intercourse to reduce the serious infection posed. Or, and I am not making this up, told Canadians that, umm, 'the lowest risk sexual activity during COVID-19 involves yourself alone...' Here it is on the Government of Canada website..Unbelievable. More substantively, under her watch, the Public Health Agency Canada (PHAC) wasted $1.2 billion on unused COVID-19 vaccines. Then there was another crisis, that unfolded when there was a shortage of medical stockpiles. Millions of high-grade N95 masks, gloves and surgical gowns had been thrown out, after three government warehouses were shut down in 2019 in order to, ironically, save money.Despite delivering contradictory messages and being responsible for an abysmal state of readiness, in June 2023 Tam was rewarded with a 22% pay hike of $59,400 to $324,000 a year and had her contract extended three years. She will retire in June from her position as head of the Public Health Agency of Canada, that she has held since 2017.Tam didn’t serve Canadians well in her duty to lead Canada through the ‘pandemic’ response, while joined at the hip to the World Health Organization. In fact, her leadership left Canadians with a well-founded lingering bitter taste of distrust. But, she repeatedly praised the speed of the novel injections made available, neglecting to tell Canadians that the vaccines that have caused horrific illnesses and death were still in phase two and three of clinical trials. She supported manipulative propaganda targeting youth and children, many of whom are at higher post-vaccination risks of asthma. An Alberta task force cited numerous concerns and eventually called for an immediate halt to COVID-19 mRNA vaccines for children and teenagers..But all these senior managers, secure that knowledge of their incompetence would be protected by layers of secrecy, helped former prime minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals fumble and bully their way through the ‘pandemic.’They demanded blind trust from Canadians. Never, ever forget that disobedience over mask mandates and lockdowns — later proven to be ineffective — resistance to getting the jab, and many demands that Canadians be afforded basic Charter rights and freedoms, were swiftly and harshly dealt with. Fines. Jail. Frozen bank accounts. Lost jobs. Enacting the War Measures [Emergencies] Act and unleashing police in riot gear on horseback to trample peaceful Freedom Convoy protesters on Parliament Hill. These are the people who at the time, Mark Carney — now our prime minister —called 'treasonous.' Medical experts who raised concerns and offered proven alternative treatments were crushed, silenced and vilified. All the while the Liberals tried to convey the illusion that they were in control.Actually, they weren’t. .What little we know is enough to confirm that the pharmaceutical companies were calling the shots while profiting obscenely, to the tune of tens of billions of dollars (topped up by the bad deal the Liberals made.)For example, other countries paid $14.50-$19.50 per vaccine dose. But Canada’s Auditor General reported taxpayers were gouged an average about $30 per dose.Wouldn’t we love to know what Liberal dimwits struck that bargain with the pharmaceutical companies. Even more, what motivated them to strike such a bad deal?Meanwhile, contracts signed with Pfizer and Moderna banned the Canadian government from donating surplus vaccine doses to low-and middle-income countries. They called the shots until those contracts were renegotiated in October 2021 to ‘permit’ the Canadian government to donate vaccines..In March 2023, pharmaceutical company executives wielded enough clout over the Liberals to successfully lobby to block vaccine contracts from MPs after Canada Public Works was ordered by the Public Accounts committee to release them.Under no circumstances should MPs — elected officials — know the secret terms, said the pharmaceutical companies. The oath Tam and others signed stressed that discretion was paramount because information breaches could “jeopardize Canada’s supplier relations and procurement processes.” “Disclosure of our confidential agreement would be an extraordinary use of authority,” then Pfizer Canada President Najah Sampson told the Commons public accounts committee. Why, Canada’s reputation was at stake! It wasn’t Canada’s reputation that was at stake. It was the reputation of the Liberal government that was secretive about obscene spending and its cozy relationship with the pharmaceutical industry.Billions in research money was dished out with no restraints.A 2023 health department memo identified a shocking more than 20 internal audits that identified “critical weaknesses and gaps” in ‘pandemic’ spending. It’s all still a big secret.Meanwhile, Canada Public Works scrubbed government web pages listing $24.5b in payments to COVID-19 contractors. Many of these were sole-sourced.The Liberals, who chattered emptily whenever they could about the need for transparency in contracting, dug their heels in and defied calls for a public inquiry.Let’s not forget that Health Canada failed to follow the rules in one-tenth of $22b in contracts approved from 2020 to 2022.To no avail, Opposition MPs sought a judicial inquiry into pandemic management sullied by favoritism in awarding deferral contracts.“When the pandemic is over, we need answers,” said former Conservative leader Erin O’Toole.Well, the pandemic passed a long time ago. The answers seeping out merely tell us that health officials and senior managers rode shotgun for the Liberals.Tam rode out the controversy swirling around her performance and was never held accountable. Now she gets to sail off into a comfy retirement. And, oh look. The secretive, taxpayer-money squandering Liberals were re-elected to rule over Canadians who are still suffering the consequences of what they did. They trampled on Canadians and let them down, but sure did a fine job of protecting themselves. Priorities.
