The coward struck from behind pumping bullets into him as he was walking down a Manhattan Street, then kept firing as the wounded Thompson tried to crawl away.The fact that this husband and father who didn’t have a chance to defend himself was murdered on December 4th isn’t important to many. What he did for a living matters.UnitedHealthcare, a private health insurer, has faced angry criticism and lawsuits for allegedly denying claims to boost profits.Demented minds gleefully figure Thompson, 50, deserved to die like that. A shocking number of people are defending, lusting after, raising funds for his accused killer’s legal defence.That a Canadian security professional sympathized in a Facebook post with the accused assassin is dumbfounding.Luigi Mangione, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder following a massive manhunt. On his way into the Blair County Courthouse in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania on December 10 an unhinged Mangione yelled at media. Once behind bars, pictures emerged of him having peed his pants. Not so tough, after all.But the accused is being hailed as a folk hero, a man of the people, a “hot assassin.”TikTok’s flooded with posts from desperately stupid women salivating over the “bad boy’s” abs in a shirtless photo of him found on a social media profile.“The alleged UnitedHealthcare shooter could take me out on a date with a gun up to him I wouldn’t say no to either,” wrote one.Another user said: “I like a bad, bad boy.”And another: “Signing up for therapy because my first thought for the UHC CEO shooter, Luigi Mangione, was that he was really hot.” Therapy’s a really good idea.Would these women lust after Mangione if he had targeted one of their loved ones? Hard to say. This world seems to get shallower, more jaded, more tolerant of evil by the day.PopCrave held a Mangione lookalike contest, with the winner pocketing $50.More than $110,000 has been raised to support the legal bills of Mangione who hails from a wealthy family and had a privileged life.The McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania where police closed in on Mangione after an employee tipped them off, is under attack with calls to boycott it and complaints about “rats.” The so-called “snitch” worker who recognized Mangione from released surveillance footage has been threatened.Prisoners at the State Correctional Institution where he’s being held chanted “free Luigi.”Some have astonishingly declared that he’s a prisoner of war who should be protected under the Geneva Convention. .And then there’s Canadian emergency management and safety professional for mosques Younus Imam, who weighed in to support the accused cold-blooded assassin, and Ivy League graduate.Imam reposted a picture on his Facebook account of Mangione with the words: This was a young man with a good education and a bright future. I don’t think we should define him by one mistake and let it ruin his life.An added comment reads: “Keep moving forward. If you keep pushing someone into a corner and they can’t escape they will react.”There’s no evidence to suggest Mangione was pushed into a corner.It’s reported he had degenerative disc disease from a surfing injury and underwent spinal fusion surgery. However, NYPD chief of detectives Joseph Kenny confirmed he wasn’t a UnitedHealthcare client. One would presume that with his family’s immense wealth, health care costs weren’t a factor in his life.Mangione’s “shocked and devastated” family offered prayers to Thompson’s family.Imam didn’t bother to mention anything about the victim or how that “one mistake” brutally snuffed his life out.The irony is that Imam is affiliated with the Ottawa-based SALAM Project that builds security and safety at mosques.The team consists of police officers, emergency management, military, private security, and urban planning professionals to conduct security audits, active shooter drills, etc.In 2023, Imam posted that he was “honoured” to meet various police agencies from Ontario, Alberta, and Montreal regarding security issues at Canadian mosques.He’s the same guy who faced a severe backlash last year when he urged protesters to “consider wearing a poppy with your keffiyeh” as prop, or a “critical psychological tool” to convince “Zionists, right-wingers and Islamophobes” that those supporting Hamas terrorists were patriotic.What do police think of this security expert fretting about Mangione’s life being ruined?Pennsylvania police involved in his arrests are reported to be facing death threats. Police called it a “brazen, targeted attack.”Imam trivialized premeditated murder as a mistake.Mangione was arrested with a 3D-printed gun that matches three shell casings at the crime scene with the words deny, defend, and depose — words used to criticize the insurance industry — written on them, fake IDs, and a three-page manifesto blasting the health care system.NYPD detectives didn’t rule out the fact that with these incriminating things still in his possession he might have intended to strike again.What about the potentially dangerous ripple effect of his “one mistake” that resulted in the NYPD warning of an increased threat to other healthcare executives facing danger from copycats?Wanted posters, some reading ‘Is this one checked off the list?’ singling out other corporate healthcare leaders appeared on social media.Posters were hung up in Manhattan that read: Wanted. Denying medical care for corporate profit. Health care CEOs should not feel safe.On a Seattle highway, an electronic sign believed to belong to a private construction contractor said ‘One less CEO. Many more to go.’One would think a security expert would be able to grasp the gravity of that. One would think someone who works with law enforcement would be astute enough to refrain from posting concern about an accused premeditated murderer’s ruined life. Imam posting that is beyond comprehension.UnitedHealthcare’s annual revenue is about $372 billion.ValuePenguin, which provides in-depth analysis on financial issues including insurance, reported that UnitedHealthcare denied 32% of claims, twice the average of large health insurance companies. So yes, potentially cheated, suffering members are justified in being enraged while executives became millionaires.Thompson, whose estimated worth stood at $43 million, was one of several company senior executives under investigation by the Justice Department for insider trading. Executives allegedly dumped $101 million in company stock prior to a federal antitrust probe of the company was made public.If Thompson was guilty of anything he deserved to go to jail not to his grave at the hands of an executioner who kept pulling the trigger as the dying man helplessly crawled on the ground.But bimbos on social media are drooling over Mangione’s abs. And a security expert involved in active shooter drills surmised that this educated man with a bright future doesn’t deserve to have his life ruined.Sick. Sick. Sick. Sometimes it’s so hard to hang onto faith in a desensitized, priority-challenged humanity.
