Montreal church fined $2,500 for hosting MAGA-supporting Christian artist Sean Feucht

City of Montreal has fined a local church $2,500 for hosting a worship concert featuring American Christian worship leader Sean Feucht, a figure associated with the MAGA movement known for having traditional Christian beliefs.Ministerios Restauracion Church, located in Plateau-Mont-Royal, held the concert featuring Feucht on Friday evening. This happened despite warnings from city officials that the event lacked a required permit and could not proceed. The city administration had previously objected to the performance."This show runs counter to the values of inclusion, solidarity, and respect that are championed in Montreal," stated Philippe Masse, a spokesperson for Mayor Valerie Plante. "Freedom of expression is one of our fundamental values, but hateful and discriminatory speech is not acceptable in Montreal." .Masse confirmed the fine was issued because the church violated city regulations by proceeding without permission.Protests occurred outside the church during the concert.
