A leaked letter shared online suggests former Regina Police Commissioner Alicia Morrow filed a formal complaint against Regina Police Service (RPS) Chief Farooq Sheikh, who was suspended last month amid a misconduct probe. The letter, posted by X's Just Bins, appears to be from the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) to Morrow and confirms her complaint against Sheikh. The RPS announced the chief’s suspension with pay on April 4, due to a public complaint under PCC investigation, with the details undisclosed. Morrow’s lawyer Sharon Fox told the CBC that the leaked document is true but declined to discuss specifics while the PCC investigates. Fox condemned the leak as a “clear and calculated attempt to intimidate, silence, and re-victimize” Morrow, an indigenous business owner and activist. .Fox said the breach exposed Morrow to harassment and safety risks, calling it part of a “broader crisis” of silencing indigenous women. The PCC stated it upholds complaint confidentiality and denied any “inappropriate disclosures” by its staff or government. Neither the PCC nor RPS confirmed if Morrow’s complaint triggered Sheikh’s suspension. Morrow joined the Regina Board of Police Commissioners in August 2024 as its indigenous representative. Public records show her last board meeting attendance was February 27, where she was marked absent. .The board oversees RPS operations and includes the mayor, two councillors, and four citizens, one indigenous. Fox said her firm is investigating the leak’s source and plans legal action. The PCC investigation continues with no timeline for completion. Morrow has not publicly commented. Sheikh, suspended since April, remains on paid leave.
