Saskatchewan’s 14 federal ridings appear ready to give another landslide for the Conservative Party in the 2025 election, with 12 seats considered safe Conservative strongholds, one leaning Liberal, and one toss-up, according to the latest projections.
Of the province’s 14 ridings, only Desnethe—Missinippi—Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan is considered a likely Liberal hold, while Regina—Wascana remains a competitive race between Conservative incumbent Michael Kram and Liberal challenger Jeffrey Walters.
All other ridings are rated as safe for Conservative incumbents or candidates, continuing the party’s dominance in the province.
The Liberals only have two candidates picked to run in the federal election, which are Walters and Rokhan Sarwar (Saskatoon South). This leaves 12 empty spots to fill quickly as the election race has begun.
In the north, Rosemarie Falk (Battlefords—Lloydminster—Meadow Lake), Kelly Block (Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek), and Randy Hoback (Prince Albert) are expected to easily retain their seats for the Conservatives.
The lone exception is Desnethe—Missinippi—Churchill River, where no Liberal candidate is listed, but projections have the Liberals holding the seat.
The south remains a Conservative fortress, with high-profile MPs like Andrew Scheer (Regina—Qu’Appelle) and Fraser Tolmie (Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan) facing minimal opposition. Incumbents Warren Steinley (Regina—Lewvan), Kevin Waugh (Saskatoon South), and Cathay Wagantall (Yorkton—Melville) are also projected to win easily.
The sole battleground is Regina—Wascana, where Conservative Kram, first elected in 2019, faces a challenge from Liberal Walters.
The riding has flipped between parties in recent decades, with Walters aiming to capitalize on urban voter shifts.
Smaller parties like the Greens, NDP, and People’s Party of Canada are fielding candidates but are not expected to contend in any riding.
Saskatchewan is a Conservative stronghold due to its rural demographics and longstanding alignment with the party’s policies on energy, agriculture, and fiscal restraint.
The outcome would mirror 2021’s federal election, where Conservatives won 13 of 14 Saskatchewan seats, with Desnethe—Missinippi—Churchill River narrowly going Liberal.
However, the Liberals have yet to pick a candidate for Desnethe—Missinippi—Churchill River and it is not a Liberal stronghold, just a likely hold.
Safe Conservative Seats: 12/14
Likely Liberal: 1 (Desnethe—Missinippi—Churchill River)
Toss-Up: 1 (Regina—Wascana)
Notable Candidates: Andrew Scheer (Regina—Qu’Appelle), Corey Tochor (Saskatoon—University), Jeremy Patzer (Swift Current—Grasslands—Kindersley)
