University of Regina Bangladeshi Student Association (URBSA) is planning a pro-Hamas protest on Monday to protest the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war.
Organizers say they stand in solidarity with Gaza’s civilians, who they claim continue to suffer amid the conflict.
In a statement, URBSA members expressed concern for innocent lives caught in the violence.
Their call to action comes after the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas that happened on October 7.
Since then, Gaza has faced devastating attacks from Israel in response.
URBSA’s letter says that, while world leaders appear unaware or indifferent to the crisis, students have a moral obligation to speak out.
The association urges the wider university community to join in condemnation of the suffering and to demand change.
A spokesperson for URBSA pointed out that this protest is intended as a peaceful event to raise awareness rather than cause disruption.
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” reads the final line of the group’s statement.
Beyond organizing demonstrations, URBSA is known for cultural events, community support, and social engagement at the University of Regina for Bangladeshi students.
URBSA hopes other student groups will join them on the university grounds in a show of unity.
URBSA said the demonstration is open to all students and community members who wish to stand in solidarity with Gaza.
