Premier Scott Moe says he will vote Conservative in the coming federal election, arguing the governing Liberals have left Saskatchewan feeling “a million miles” from Ottawa.
In a video filmed in his hometown of Shellbrook, roughly 3,000 kilometres from Parliament Hill, Moe pledges to back Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, whom he calls the only federal politician offering policies that respect Saskatchewan’s economy and people.
Moe accuses the Liberal government of making it more expensive to produce “the most sustainable food, fuel, and fertilizer on Earth,” then throwing up barriers that keep those goods from reaching the global markets.
Moe said he had repeated attempts to co-operate with Ottawa that have been met with a “turned back” and stalled projects.
“Saskatchewan will never be part of the United States,” said Moe.
“But, it’s time we had a government that treats us like we’re part of Canada.”
Moe lists priorities he believes Poilievre would advance: safer communities, resource development paired with reliable transport, good-paying jobs, and “fair and equal treatment” for Saskatchewan as an equal partner in Confederation.
“I’m tired of being a million miles from Ottawa,” said Moe.
“Only Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives can bring this country closer together.”
The federal election day is April 28.
