Two University of Regina Rams football players, including a Canadian Football League (CFL) prospect, face drug trafficking charges following a Regina police investigation.
Defensive lineman Tarick Polius, 22, and defensive back Michael Jourdan, 21, were arrested alongside three others in a four-month probe tied to fentanyl distribution.
Polius, a Canada West all-star and 2026 CFL Draft prospect, faces five charges, including trafficking fentanyl, possession for trafficking, and links to a criminal organization.
Jourdan faces four similar charges.
Regina police executed eight search warrants, seizing five kilograms of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, $151,425 cash, two handguns, and three vehicles.
The total seizure value is estimated at $1.5 million.
Five people, including Emmanuel Ramadan Bashir, Morteza Ahadi, and Randal Lee Racette, face 25 combined charges.
Polius, a 6-ft 7-ins., 310-lbs. standout, joined the Rams in 2024 after three seasons in junior football.
Polius recorded 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks last year.
Jourdan, a former junior league All-Canadian, added 22 tackles and two interceptions in his first Rams season.
The University of Regina suspended both players from the team.
“We will not comment on the charges due to the ongoing investigation,” the school said in a statement.
The Rams finished 3-5 last season but rallied to win the Canada West title before falling in the national semifinals.
Fentanyl carries severe penalties under Canadian law.
Police called the seizure “significant” in disrupting local drug networks.
None of the accused have entered pleas.
The allegations remain unproven in court.
