Just days after an elderly man went viral for flipping the bird while smiling at a Mark Carney rally in Ontario, a satirical X account has been created in his honour.
The "Brantford Boomer" channels the man's energy into fake posts trolling struggling Canadians ahead of the election.
Here are the top five posts — so far.
FIVE:
"I'm voting for Mark Carney because he will help Canada evade Trumps tariffs, like he does his taxes."
This is referencing the Liberal leader's use of tax havens, a point which has been brought up by his opponents on the right and left.
FOUR:
"Get off my lawns. Vote for Mark Carney."
The use of the plural form of lawn appears deliberate, showcasing how many in the older generation have contributed to the housing crisis by owning multiple homes.
THREE:
"Get out there and vote for Mark Carney. Together we can make sure not one young person can afford to buy a home. Elbows up."
This one is self-explanatory.
TWO:
"Stop blaming Mark Carney because you can’t afford a home. It's Trumps fault. Elbows up!"
The Liberals have used Donald Trump — who does pose a threat to Canada's economic and territorial sovereignty — as a shield to deflect criticism of the policies that weakened Canada's economy long before the president entered the White House for his second term.
ONE:
"If you don't want to get vaccinated that's your choice, but don't think you can get in line to vote beside vaccinated people and put them at risk. Elbows Up!"
Long after the pandemic, many on the left have continued to treat the unvaccinated as a threat, with some even going so far as trying to exclude them from public life.
