Canadian-American talkshow host Steven Crowder has urged Albertans to seriously consider joining the United States in light of the Canadian election results.

He said the United States would welcome their new countrymen "with open arms."

"Allow me to make the case as a half-Canadian ... why Alberta needs to secede and why Alberta should become either a territory or part of the United States," Crowder began.

"Alberta, and portions of Canada that are not represented by the current Liberal Party have a choice to make: align with communists of their country who are also aligned with communists in China, or align yourself with the United States."

He went on to note that Alberta is "much closer to our values than the rest of Canada at this point."

"There's a rot in Canada," Crowder continued. "Canada's blood has gone septic, and there is a lone exception, hopefully: Alberta. The Canada that you think you know and love, the Canada of the national anthem before it was changed to not offend people ... it's not there anymore, Albertans.

"Let's get past the trolling and the idea of being the 51st state," Crowder added. "There's a way to make this work where you no longer have to be shackled to the communists of your country."

The host cited a poll from earlier in the month that found if the Liberals won, 30% of Albertans would consider leaving Canada. He predicted that with the Conservatives winning the popular vote in the province by a two-to-one margin, that number will likely get "quite a bit higher."

"Take a sober look at yourself," he told Albertans. "You need to leave Canada. Canada is not what you thought it was. Canada is a Marxist hellhole — and by the way, Alberta, the rest of Canada despises you. Americans won't. Americans will welcome you with open arms. This isn't trolling. This isn't 51st state and you're subservient. It's territory or a state and you now have access to the world and your people can flourish."

"Do you want your free speech?" Crowder asked. "There's one way. Do you want to have something resembling second amendment rights? There's one way. Do you want to have control of your own energy industry? There's one way. Do you want to stand in the face of communist tyranny? There's one way. Do you want your people to benefit economically and have a future that isn't stifled socially, culturally, economically across the board? There's one way."

In a post on X, Crowder said Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre "blew it," and further explained his case for Alberta joining the US.

Talk of independence has increased in prominence in the hours since the election was called for Mark Carney and the Liberals, with many urging Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to advance a referendum on the issue.
