Despite its long track record of left-leaning political takes, the Daily Show couldn't help but be impressed by Pierre Poilievre.
During a recent episode, host Desi Lydic painted the Conservative as a powerful leader, and his soon-to-be former opponent Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as weak and unpopular.
"Trudeau didn't resign just to make it easier for Trump to take over Canada," Lydic began, "the fact is he resigned because he's very unpopular now, and if he ran again, he'd have to face this guy."
She described him as a "pretty intimidating dude," before showing the now famous clip of him biting down on an apple while speaking with a reporter.
Watching Poilievre grill the man over his question about whether he's "taking a page out of the Donald Trump book," the audience laughed.
"God damn that's a power move," Lydic said. "I haven't seen someone dominated like this since I watched Babygirl. I'll tell you what, America is not getting Canada from him."
She concluded by imitating Poilievre biting down on the apple, saying, "Get on your knees; you're our province now."
