Both the Conservative and Liberal leaders enjoyed a full house for their Monday night rallies — Poilievre at a Fredericton, NB, rally described as an airplane hanger and Carney at a Hamilton, ON pub.
More than 2,000 people turned out for the Conservative leader's rally in Fredericton, which has a population of just 74,000. Atlantic provinces are typically Liberal strongholds.
Carney meanwhile held a campaign event west of Toronto, at a pub that has a capacity of 120.
Poilievre in his speech repeated condemning remarks he made earlier on Monday about Carney's decision to allow Liberal MP Paul Chiang to stay on as a candidate after he publicly admitted he had called for a Conservative candidate to be kidnapped and turned over to the Chinese Communist Party for a bounty of HK$1 million, or about CA$100,000.
Carney did not make his event public, and there are few posts from his supporters on social media. Rebel News chief Ezra Levant was on-scene asking Carney's supporters about their reaction to Carney's "confidence" in Chiang despite the CCP-Liberal bounty scandal.
Carney made no mention of his event on his X account and it was not broadcast on CPAC. The Liberal prime minister has a history of blocking independent journalists from his events, including three different Western Standard reporters.
Poilievre in contrast had his rally publicly covered by CPAC, posted the livestream to his X account, and multitudes of his supporters posted live from the event.
