He said it's "the same Liberal gang, with the same Liberal agenda, the same Liberal results, and the same Liberal promises."

Pierre Poilievre has suggested that Mark Carney is trying to "trick" Canadians into giving the Trudeau Liberals a fourth term.

The Conservative leader cast doubt on the prime minister's claims that things would be any different than they were under his predecessor.

"Today, Liberals are trying to trick Canadians into electing them for a fourth term in power with a cabinet that is 87% the same as Trudeau's cabinet," Poilievre said during a press conference shortly after Carney and his team were sworn in, noting that every single one of the new ministers had been in Trudeau's caucus.

He pointed out that "these same Liberal MPs voted to hike the carbon tax, double the debt, double food bank lineups, and double housing costs ... supported blocking pipelines, LNG plants, and passing the anti-energy law C-69 that has made Canada even more reliant on the US."

"[Carney] thinks that a little bit of cosmetic surgery will allow the Liberals to disguise who they are and make people forget what they did for ten years," Poilievre continued, "but it's the same Liberal gang, with the same Liberal agenda, the same Liberal results, and the same Liberal promises."

Poilievre highlighted Carney's promise to do away with the carbon tax, predicting that he would pull off a "carbon tax con job" if elected.

"There would be a bigger carbon tax than ever before," he said, "because Carney would no longer need your vote, but he'd still need your money."

The Conservative leader reminded everyone that Carney does not have a mandate, arguing that he "has not been elected by the Canadian people, he's been installed by the Liberal establishment and Justin Trudeau's insiders."
