Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Thursday expressed disbelief the Liberals refuse to release a spring budget and urged Prime Minister Mark Carney to adopt Conservative ideas. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne on Wednesday told reporters the Carney Liberals will not table a spring budget, which, outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, is unprecedented. In 1993, 1984 and 1985, there were significant delays in tabling a budget, but a budget was always produced. “Mr. Carney said during the election campaign that he had a plan, and he took great delight in saying that ‘a slogan is not a plan’. Well, a budget is a plan," said Poilievre at a press conference. ."We're here with solutions. I'm offering the prime minister to sit down with him and propose Conservative solutions that we hope that he will steal. I want him to steal our best ideas," said Poilievre.“I’m happy to bring them to the prime minister’s desk, so he can steal them. We will help to pass them by Canada Day.”When asked if the Conservatives will support the Liberals’ proposed income tax cut despite no budget, Poilievre replied, “we’ll see what’s in [the bill].”“We want bigger cuts,” he said.“We are the party of tax cuts.”
