Staff members in the Prime Minister’s Office will meet on Monday.

It is anticipated that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Chief of Staff Katie Telford will express their inability to continue without the support of the caucus.

A majority of the caucuses in Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Quebec, and British Columbia over the Christmas break have decided that Trudeau should resign.

A national all-day caucus has been scheduled for Wednesday to discuss Trudeau stepping aside and outline the next steps.

CTV News reports that if Trudeau announces his resignation, it will be as the Liberal Party leader.

Trudeau intends to remain as prime minister until a new leader is elected.
