Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is promising to cut the lowest income tax rate by 15% if elected, offering a significant break to the average Canadian worker.

Speaking at his campaign launch, Poilievre introduced what he calls the “Bring it Home Income Tax Cut,” which would lower the current 15% bracket to 12.75%.

For a worker earning about $57,000, that translates to a saving of $900 per year.

Two-income households could save up to $1,800 annually.

“Everywhere I go, Canadians tell me the same thing—life has never been more expensive,” said Poilievre.

“You’re working harder, but your work doesn’t pay like it used to, and it feels like you’re falling further behind. Canadians deserve to bring home powerful paycheques for their families, and my 15% tax cut will do exactly that.”

The plan is aimed at giving Canadians more control over their paycheques while rewarding hard work.

Poilievre insists that because Conservatives are targeting the lowest tax bracket, families with modest incomes will feel the greatest impact.

He also criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s fiscal track record, pointing out that families now pay $10,000 more in taxes than they did before the Liberals took office.

Poilievre referenced Prime Minister Mark Carney and blamed him for encouraging higher taxes and what he called reckless government spending.

Carney was a Trudeau economic advisor before becoming Liberal leader and Prime Minister.

“Under the Liberals, Canadians are spending more on government than on clothes for their kids, food for their families, and a place to call home,” said Poilievre.

“I will end this, and this 15% income tax cut is just the beginning.”

Part of the wider “Bring It Home Tax Cut” platform, Poilievre’s proposal is designed to stimulate job creation and support local businesses.

His pledge underscores a broader Conservative goal to “unleash” the economy so Canadians can stand firm against US threats while restoring the promise of a solid paycheque buying a better life for the average Canadian.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federal applauded Poilievre's plan.

“Poilievre is providing significant tax relief for people working hard to make ends meet,” said Franco Terrazzano, CTF Federal Director. “The best way the government can make life more affordable is to let people keep more of their own money and Poilievre’s tax cut would do just that.”

“It’s great to see the two major parties dueling over who can cut taxes the most and Poilievre is providing twice as much income tax relief as Carney,” Terrazzano said. “Now we need to see big tax cuts for Canadian businesses to make them more competitive in the wake of American tariffs.”
