In the wake of Donald Trump's suggestion that Wayne Gretzky run for "governor" of Canada, the Great One's wife Janet posted a cryptic message to social media, adding fuel to the fire of speculation.
During his meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago over the holidays, Gretzky made it clear he had "no interest," but his wife appeared to at least be open to the idea of him trying his luck in the political arena.
On Boxing Day, Mrs. Gretzky shared a short video to Instagram of her husband's iconic quote, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
Immediately, other users took to the comments section to ask what the post was referring to.
"Is this a “running for PM” announcement?" one user wrote, with another declaring, "GO FOR IT 99 SAVE CANADA."
Their sentiments were shared by numerous others, who supported the idea of Gretzky running for office.
Mrs. Gretzky has not elaborated on the post since.
After spending Christmas with Gretzky in Florida, Trump shared a post to Truth Social.
"I just left Wayne Gretzky, the "Great One as he is known in Ice Hockey circles," Trump wrote. "I said 'Wayne, why don't you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada — you would win easily, you wouldn't even have to campaign."
Trump lamented the fact that Gretzky had expressed "no interest" in doing so, but nonetheless called on Canadians to launch a "DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement," adding it was "so much fun to watch."
