A Saskatchewan man who claimed to be an indigenous healer has admitted to sexually assaulting 12 women.

In a Saskatoon courtroom on Wednesday, Cecil Wolfe, 63, pleaded guilty to sexual offences that took place between 2013 and 2021.

Police said he approached his victims in several communities, using the cover of being a healer or medicine man to gain their trust.

According to court documents, Wolfe had previously pleaded guilty to the same charges three years ago.

However, those pleas were expunged for reasons not detailed by the court.

Now, his case is moving forward again, with a sentencing hearing set for March 26.

Crown prosecutors allege Wolfe used his position as a spiritual guide to take advantage of women who believed he was there to help them.

Each survivor reported that Wolfe’s actions were unexpected and violated the trust they had placed in him.

Wolfe’s lawyer told reporters there is more to the story and that details will come out during the sentencing hearing.

Until then, Wolfe remains in custody.
